Vitakruid Symflora junior pre- and probiotics
Vitakruid Symflora® Junior Pre- and Probiotics

Pre- and probiotics for children between 1 and 12 years old
Each period in life requires a different probiotic that meets the needs of that phase. Probiotic strains have been chosen for Symflora® Junior based on the needs of children from 1 year of age. The junior formula can be easily and safely added to water.

What is prebiotics?
Prebiotics are the dietary fiber for the bacteria in our intestines. These indigestible dietary fibers are found in food such as grains, vegetables and fruit. Prebiotic fibers stimulate the growth and functioning of bacteria, giving them a better chance of survival in our body. We have included prebiotics in our Symflora® Junior for optimal probiotic activity.

Six strains with scientific substantiation
Scientific research shows that probiotics with multiple strains are more effective than a probiotic with only one strain.1 This can be compared to a team of people from different backgrounds. Due to their different qualities, they are able to help and complement each other.

Bifidobacteria are dominant in the intestines of a newborn baby, but the composition of the microbiome changes over time.2 In the first three years of life, a child's intestinal flora reaches a stable state, with the bifidobacterium and lactobacillus strains being the most common. As a result, at Symflora® Junior we have opted for a formula with six bacterial strains of these two species.

High survival rate after 24 hours
The decisive factor for the quality of a probiotic is the extent to which the bacteria pass through the digestive system. During the digestion of food, the bacterial strains are subjected to all kinds of digestive fluids, such as bile and stomach acid. The acidity of the stomach can prevent certain probiotics from surviving, resulting in fewer living bacteria ultimately reaching your intestines.

Probiotic activity is more important than Kve/g
Winclove pobiotics, together with the University of Maastricht, has published a study showing that the (cfu/g) in Symflora® at the end of the digestive system is relatively constant. This means that the number of bacterial strains you consume has a high survival rate. They have a higher metabolic activity because they generally remain undamaged after digestion. Metabolic activity therefore means the degree of activity that bacterial strains achieve during the digestion of food without being affected.

When selecting good probiotics, the survival and metabolic activity test are relevant indicators. It is often thought that the amount of colony forming units (cfu/g) is important, but this is not entirely true. What is the value of a large number (cfu/g) when the bacterial strains do not survive our stomach acid before they reach the end point?

CFU/g The abbreviation (cfu/g) comes from the English abbreviation (cfu/g), which means colony forming units per gram. In Dutch we have the term; colony forming units per gram of made. The bacterial count or colony forming units per gram represent the number of colonies of probiotics present in one gram of the product. One sachet of Symflora® Junior contains 2 x 108 (cfu/g), which is equivalent to 200 million colony-forming units.

With ProbioAct® technology
The ProbioAct® technology contains specially selected nutrients that contribute to the stability, survival and metabolic activity of the probiotics. This is important as bacteria are vulnerable. This technology guarantees that the probiotics can be stored at room temperature and that they are resistant to the various digestive juices in the digestive system.

Vitamin D in children
The Health Council recommends a daily amount of 10 mcg of vitamin D per day for children. The junior formula contains 5 mcg of vitamin D, so you already receive half of this advice!

Sachet protects against moisture, light and air
We have chosen to package Symflora® Junior in sachets. This has several advantages over other packaging methods. This way, the product in a sachet remains optimally protected against light, air and moisture.

Furthermore, the probiotics in this product only exist in an inactive state to ensure their shelf life. When the single-celled organisms come into contact with moisture, they become active again.

Vitamin D:
- has a positive influence on the immune system of children
- also ensures good resistance in children
