MCT Olie C8
Vitakruid MCT oil C8
C8 MCT Oil
MCT (Medium Chain Triglycerides) are medium-chain fatty acids. These fatty acids, unlike longer chains, are already absorbed at the beginning of the intestinal tract. This means that the liver has to make minimal effort to convert the fatty acids. Moreover, our body hardly stores MCT as fat.
MCT type C8 is the best form of MCT
There are four types of MCT:
- C6 (caproic acid): most quickly absorbed by the body and rarest form in MCT oil.
- C8 (caprylic acid): most efficient fatty acid after C6.
- C10 (capric acid): slightly slower absorption than C8, but has a similar effect in the body.
- C12 (lauric acid): longer conversion process due to longer fatty acid chain and therefore less suitable.
C8
We see C8 as the most efficient fatty acid because of its length, among other things. The body absorbs C10 slightly less quickly compared to C8. While saturated fatty acids used to have a mainly negative character, MCT oil falls under healthy saturated fatty acids.
Extracted from non-GMO and sustainable coconuts
MCT oil from Vitakruid is extracted from non-GMO coconuts and comes from Southeast Asia and South America. The oil is extracted from cold pressing and therefore does not need to be hydrogenated. This is a chemical process that changes the consistency of the fat. Oil or soft fat is hardened in this way. This can produce trans fatty acids. MCT oil from Vitakruid is 100% trans fat-free!
In addition, people view this oil less critically because the oil still goes through a deodorization process. This makes deodorized oil cheaper because only the very best coconuts are selected for non-deodorized oil. MCT oil from Vitakruid has not been deodorized, so all the good properties have been retained.
Palm oil free
MCT fatty acids are mainly found in coconut oil and palm oil. Although MCTs can be found in both forms, there are differences. Palm oil has been embraced by the food industry as a cheap ingredient for all kinds of processed products. You can also sometimes find a mixture of these two types of oil in cheaper MCT oils. CT oil from Vitakruid is based exclusively on coconut oil.
Sustainable production process Witarix® MCT oil
Sustainability is high on the priority list in product development. MCT oil from Vitakruid is 100% from sustainable coconut oil (Witarix®). The vegan product is, in addition to a kosher and Halal certification, Ecocert-approved:
- Environmentally friendly production and processing processes that take human health into account
- Responsible use of natural resources
- Respect for biodiversity
- Recyclable packaging
- Ingredients have a natural origin
- No use of genetic modification
MCT oil safe in glass
The MCT oil is packaged immediately after the first cold pressing in glass, the only packaging material that the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) considers safe. This mainly applies to products (such as oil) that can react with their packaging. Plastic often contains plasticizers such as phthalates that ensure that the plastic is flexible and flexible. Depending on the type of plastic, certain plasticizers can leak in small quantities.
Less oxidation through glass
The glass packaging also protects the oil against external influences that cause oxidation. This means that oil is often packaged in a somewhat darker (glass) bottle, so that the oil is exposed to light and oxygen as little as possible.
MCT oil or powder?
MCT is available in oil or powder form. Most studies into the positive effects of MCT oil have been done with MCT oil. The most important thing is the quality of the product you choose. Low-quality MCT powders often contain added fillers and therefore have a reduced effect. Compared to MCT powder, MCT oil is the purest.
What can I use MCT Oil for?
You can use MCT oil in different ways. You can add it to a (bulletproof) coffee, smoothie or mix it with your oatmeal in the morning. Heat MCT oil to a maximum of 175 degrees, so this product is less suitable for frying.
