The green-lipped mussel gets its name from the light green edge along the outside of the shell. The mussel only occurs in the New Zealand waters of Marlborough Sounds, where the shellfish can flourish optimally in unspoilt nature. The green-framed mollusk naturally contains a high concentration of essential fatty acids and glycosamine glycans. In addition to green-lipped mussels, the patented Ovomet® also plays a leading role in this formula. This eggshell membrane naturally contains collagen, hyaluronic acid, glucosamine, chondroitin, keratin, lyzozyme and more than 500 proteins.

High concentration of active ingredients in Green-lipped mussel extract
When processing green-lipped mussels into powder, the nutrient value remains the same. In fact you have a mashed mussel; healthy in itself, but we cannot attach any major health benefits to this. The amount of active ingredients is simply not high enough. By filtering the valuable nutrients from the mollusk quickly after catch, an extract is created that has a many times higher concentration of the active ingredients. When we peel an egg, we throw away the eggshell, but the eggshell membrane is a rich source of nutrients. Eggnovo therefore decided to use this part of the eggshell for Ovomet®. And in this area they can rightly call themselves innovative. The company has a unique method for separating the internal membrane from the eggshell. During this precise production process, they process the vulnerable membrane directly into powder, without the intervention of heating. This keeps all nutrients intact.
